Ants

Ontario and the surrounding areas experience high ants activity during the spring and summer months. Most of the ant problems in our homes are caused by carpenter ants, pavement ants and pharaoh ants.

At Bees and Pest Control, we understand the havoc these insects can cause. The black carpenter ant causes the most structural damage. Pavement Ant depending on the nest location is a nusiance as they tend to build nest indoors. The pharaoh ant is also mostly located indoor as they are attacted to foods high in protein and sugars. Ants access buidings through cracks in the foundations and walls. They can also use small openings that are sometimes around moulding or plumbing connected to a structure. Ants live in what is referred to a caste system. One of the more destructive ants castes is made up of workers that perform nest maintenance and forage for food on an invisible trail invading homes.

When the ants nest is outside they cause damage to lawns and gardens. If inside they damage structures by chewing on wood, insulation and electrical cables during nest building.
